The revolving, regular movement of the great piece of naval aluminium Depitecus in the central patio of the Revillagigedo Palace presides since yesterday over the exhibition of sculptures by Joan Pedragosa in the Centre Cajastur until the 22nd of September. The well-known Catalan graphic designer, who embarked on a career in the field of sculpture relatively late, was present yesterday at the opening of the exhibition, which consists of 28 pieces, many of them of considerable size.

Starting from concepts close to constructivism, Pedragosa’s sculptures explore movement and rhythm, contrasts of material and texture, vacuum and volume, with an execution constantly concerned with elegance and poetry.

Joan Pedragosa uses his evocative titles, always in Latin, to enhance the suggestiveness of pieces done with materials such as naval aluminium, steel or bronze, treated with different finishes: polished, zinc coated by projection, oxidized, etc.
